Well I made it to the Celebrations on the edge of Lake Victoria and it’s just turned midnight. This morning I honestly thought I would be sending the family off without me. But then I ate the first decent amount of food for lunch since I arrived in Uganda and during the afternoon had a siesta which both could have contributed towards feeling a little better. But now I wonder if it was one of the lunch ingredients that gave me strength. Abi 18 and her cousin Betty 14 had cooked, serving up matoki (savoury Banana), rice, sweet potatoes, g-nut sauce and meat cut into small pieces and well fried. When I was well into the meat I asked what it was and the quick response was ‘offal, goats offal’!
HAPPY NEW YEAR to all my family and friends in the UK who will be celebrating in three hours time or at another midnight! Wishing you all health and happiness for the year to come. XXXXX
Recognise anyone?
Gosh Gerry, as a vegetarian goat’s offal definitely does not appeal. Happy New Year to you and all your Uganda family and glad you are feeling better xx
